At what point does a tool start to feel like a crutch?

I've been thinking about that new AI math article. Reminds me of when autotune first hit the radio — suddenly everyone could sing, but nobody sounded like themselves. So I'm wondering: where do you draw the line between using something to help you and letting it do the thinking for you?
