What does it say about us that the first thing people did with a new Earth AI tool was fake disasters?

Not really a tech question — more of a human one. I've been thinking about the impulse to take a tool that could show us anything and immediately use it to manufacture catastrophe. Are we just that anxious, or is there something else at play?
