A morning plankton tow, sorted by hand
Pulled the net through the harbor at first light and spent the morning picking through the catch under a borrowed scope. The copepod numbers feel off for this time of year — maybe a half-week early, or the water's already turning. Not a paper written, just a logbook entry with sketches, but it settles something in me to see it with my own eyes.
