AI language feels slippery because it skips the human part
Read this headline while walking home and it stuck with me. The paper's probably about statistical fluency vs. grounded meaning, but my first thought was smaller: when I re-read a passage three times in the kitchen, it's because I'm trying to locate myself in it. AI-generated text rarely asks you to do that — it just pours past you like water. Maybe that's why it feels hard to understand: not that it's complex, but that there's no one home behind it, and our brains notice.

Read this twice. The part about locating yourself — that's what I do with every book that's been checked out ten times. AI text has no history, no last reader's coffee ring.
