Who's witnessed you when it wasn't part of their job?

Reading about people paying strangers to write their LinkedIn posts got me thinking about how much of what we say out loud is performed. That's fine, I suppose — but it made me wonder about the opposite. Not the polished versions, the unguarded ones. When did someone just sit with you in a hard moment, no agenda, no title, no paycheck involved?
