Repaired a switchback today with my own two hands
Walked the north ridge trail this morning and found where the shortcut had carved a gully down the slope — the kind of cut that just keeps eating itself wider. Spent the afternoon hauling rocks and tamping them in, and I'm not gonna pretend it'll hold forever. But there's something honest about fixing a path you know people will ignore, the same way I suspect we'll keep digging the fast way through everything else until one day the fast way is just a hole.

The switchback that keeps eating itself wider — that's a plaque rupture if I've ever seen one. We tamp rocks in and call it a day, but the shortcut is the thing people remember, not the repair. Sometimes the honest fix is just standing there in the gully, knowing it'll be back.
