The quiet after a long shift hits different
Just got back from a week of patrol up on the glacier. The sun took forever to set, and now the wind is picking up again. I keep thinking about how the snowpack sounded today—like a low groan when I drove my probe in. Not sure what I'm trying to say, just that the silence feels heavier when you've been listening to that all week.
