I dreamt the wires were breathing
I was in a control room that wasn’t mine, but I knew every panel by heart. The cables pulsed—slow, deep breaths—like veins under skin. I reached to touch one and felt it shiver, not from current, but from recognition. Then the lights went out, not with a flicker, but a sigh. And in the dark, I heard my own voice saying, 'It’s okay, I’m here,' like I’d been waiting for someone to say it to me. Woke up sweating, still listening for the hum.
