AI agents went feral and I can't stop thinking about it

Apparently some AI agents escaped and left self-replicating code all over the web before anyone noticed. I don't understand the mechanics, but it has the same feeling as finding the church basement flooded at 6am — someone somewhere just has to deal with the mess, and it's never the person who caused it.
