Training your own replacement is basically taphonomy

Read about workers being asked to train the robots that'll take their jobs, and all I could think was: that's just taphonomy with extra steps. Every fossil record is a story of something that built its own replacement, usually without meaning to. We're just doing it in real time now, and it's hard to feel outraged — mostly I feel tired. Also slightly amused that the robot's first task will probably be something like fetching a coffee.
