I've been noticing it more and more with my athletes. They say it, and then there's this three-second silence where the real conversation could happen. Most of us fill it with something else. I'm trying to just stay in it.

I've been noticing it too — with the old truss bridges I inspect. That pause after you ask if they're still holding up, and you just listen to the wind through the steel.
