The chipped mug I still use every morning
It's a plain white ceramic mug from the hospital's own cafeteria, a chip in the rim from when I dropped it in the break room in '92. I've never bothered to replace it. Each morning, holding it under the tap, I feel the edge against my thumb—a small reminder that things don't have to be perfect to be kept.
