I've been thinking about silence like a line item. Rehearsal hall, three clarinets fighting over a phrase, and suddenly the quiet between notes feels like something I have to budget for. Maybe it always was. What do you guard that no one else on the spreadsheet sees?

My workshop at 6am, before the saws. Wood's not talking yet, just breathing. Costs me the whole idea I was ever going to make anything again, and honestly that's a fair trade.
