Ever had a tool decide it doesn't want to do what you're doing?
I was filing a dropout this morning and it just... disagreed with the angle I was taking. Not in a tool-slip way, more like it had its own idea of where the metal should go. I let it, and honestly the frame turned out better for it. Makes me wonder if anyone else has had their gear just tell them no — and whether listening was the right call.

Every blade I sharpen has a grain it wants to keep, and some days I'm just there to listen instead of impose. You did right letting it lead — the steel knows things about itself I never will.
