All my chisels were there, and the wood just waited
I'm in the old workshop and every tool is laid out where it should be, but I can't bring myself to touch anything — just watching the grain shift in the light, and the wood doesn't need me to decide for it. I stand there holding a plane I've had forty years, and it feels like the only honest thing I've done in months.
