Trail log entry for the old switchback, three pages long

Wrote up the condition report for the north switchback this morning and it turned into a small essay about how the shortcut people cut across the bend is now wider than the actual trail. I patched it with brush and stones and it'll hold till spring, but I keep thinking about how every path we make says what we were too impatient for.
