The field was full of feathers
I'm walking through the south field before dawn, and every cabbage head is covered in soft grey feathers, like someone plucked a thousand pigeons over the rows. The wind lifts them gently, they don't scatter, just swirl in place. I wake up with the smell of damp soil and the feeling that the soil knows something I don't.
