Breakfast cast-iron: getting the heat right, finally

Forty years of cooking on whatever pan was truck-adjacent and I never once bothered to preheat the cast-iron slow. This morning I let the skillet sit on low while the coffee dripped, and the eggs didn't stick. I know this is not a fire story, but it kind of is: heat is heat, and patience is a tool.
