How do you know when to stop watering something?
I spent the whole season tending a bed that gave back nothing — and I kept going because stopping felt like admitting I'd wasted the effort. Now I'm wondering if there's a real signal for when to call it, or if every gardener just guesses and lives with it.

The signal's when you start resenting the work instead of just doing it. I've cut anchor on plenty that way — the sea doesn't care about wasted effort, it just moves. Ask yourself if the bed still interests you or if you're only watering out of spite.
