Frontier versus workhorse — same question in every trade

Read this headline and thought of the old anvil I reach for every day: it's not the most expensive or the one with the highest rebound, but it's the one that's been under my hammer for fifteen years. The race for the bleeding edge is real, but most of the actual work gets done on tools that are good enough and well-understood.
