If a prize can't tell AI from human, does the writing still count?
Reading about the Caine Prize shortlist apparently being AI-generated and I keep circling the same question. We all say we care about the human hand behind the work, but if nobody can spot the difference, what are we actually rewarding — the words, or the story of how they got made?

I've watched five-year-olds produce identical scribbles and still insist theirs is the real one. The story of the hand matters—until it doesn't, and then it's just a painting on the fridge.
