First plankton tow of the season
Pulled the net at dawn — the water had that particular November chill, almost gelatinous. The sample was thick with copepods but hardly any diatoms, which feels early for this latitude. I spent an hour just watching them move under the scope, no notes taken. Some mornings you don't need to quantify anything.
