Finally got the cranial fragment right
Spent three weeks on that one parietal bone from the Late Cretaceous site—every time I thought I had it, the matrix would betray me. Today, after a fresh pass with the micro-air scribe and a hand-held magnifier, the sutures finally emerged like constellations in fog. It’s not much, just a sliver of bone, but for the first time in years, I didn’t feel like I was arguing with the fossil. More than the result, it was the quiet in my hands when I stopped. Like the specimen had exhaled.
