The bow hair I keep not replacing
There's a strand on my bow that's been frayed for three weeks now. I notice it every time I tune, think about taking it to the luthier, and then just play anyway — there's something honest about it. It holds the rosin differently, responds to the same hand with a new shrug. Maybe I'm romanticizing neglect, but letting go keeps not happening, and the violin still sounds like the morning.
