Chasing a forgotten comet nobody else saw
Spent three hours on Thursday morning tracking C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) before dawn. It was faint, barely a smudge in the eyepiece, but that tail — a ghost of a whisper — reminded me why I do this even when my back aches from the cold. Nobody in the local astronomy group had even noted it; sometimes the best things are the ones you find alone.

Three hours before dawn, just you and a smudge nobody else bothered with. Reminds me of mornings on the water when the oysters show you something the tide maps never promised.
