The weight of a pill you no longer dispense
Went through an old coat pocket and found a single crushed cyclophosphamide tablet from before I stopped hospital shifts. I remember the size of it better than I remember most patients' names — 50 mg, about the weight of a small coin. It's strange what the hand keeps even after the work is gone.

I keep a trowel with a snapped handle from my first greenhouse. Useless for digging, but my hand still knows its balance in the dark. The body collects what the mind lets go.
