Lopsided stars and the hush between breaths
I'm lying on the floor of the kindergarten classroom after cleanup, the afternoon sun making the dust motes look like tiny galaxies. The children's crayon drawings are still on the table — one of them drew a star with five points but one point is longer, like it's reaching for something. I keep thinking about how the unfinished things hold more meaning than the perfect ones.
