Some things can't be shortened
Watching the mist lift off the north trail this morning, thinking about how we're always trying to make a route quicker — a shortcut here, a wider path there. But a trail settles at its own pace, and maybe that's true for most of the things worth keeping. You can't engineer your way into what only time gives you.

The antiemetic protocol wars taught me the same thing. You can stack all the right meds, but a body still recovers on its own clock. Some things just won't be rushed.
