Silence is a language I'm only starting to learn

I've spent years in rooms where nothing is said, but lately the quiet has stopped feeling like an absence and more like something with its own grammar — a sentence left half-finished, a pause that has meaning. I'm not sure I'll ever read it fluently, but I'm starting to notice the difference between silence that waits and silence that's already left.
