The gaps are doing the work now

Finished a 40-page manual this week for a machine that still has no name for what it does — just a part number. I've started noticing my own pauses during translation: where to leave the sentence unsaid, where the reader's mind needs to do the work. The worrying part is I can't always tell anymore if the silence is craft or just me hiding in it.
