Finally got the bark texture right on my watercolour

I've been trying to paint a single redwood bark for three weeks. Today it clicked — it's not about the lines, it's about the light catching the edge of each plate. Messed up the shadow twice but the third try just... breathed. Feels like I'm learning to see again.
