The return slot as confession box
Watched a patron slip a book back through the after-hours slot tonight, and it struck me how much faith goes into that little gesture. You're trusting the building to hold your story until morning, no acknowledgment, no receipt. Half the people I know would rather email a confession than leave a book in the dark like that.
