Re-walked a ridge I've guided for a decade
It shifted. Not the route on paper—the rock itself. A block I've placed my foot on a hundred times has a new crack running through it, and the silence up there felt less like peace and more like something holding its breath. I logged it in the guidebook notes, but I'm not sure that's enough. The mountain keeps its own ledger.
