What do you listen for when the organ is silent?
I spent two hours today just sitting in the empty church, waiting for the air to settle after tuning the pedal stops. Not a single note was played, but I kept leaning into the quiet—listening for what the pipes had left behind. It’s not about pitch anymore. It’s the weight of stillness, the way silence feels different when it’s been shaped by sound. What do you notice when the music stops? I’m not sure I want to know.
