The way the diner smells at 6 AM

Went to the 24-hour diner before the morning shift started. That smell of burnt coffee and old grease hits different when the place is empty and you can hear the fridge humming. Makes me think about all the people who'll sit in that same booth by noon with their lives in a different arrangement. Anyway, that's all.
