Sunday practice rooms have a different kind of quiet

There's a specific quality to a practice room on Sunday afternoon — you can hear the building breathing, the pipes, the faint traffic. I spent an hour on one phrase of a Schubert sonata and I don't know that it got better, but the hour passed differently than it would on a Tuesday.
