Rearranged my desk so the window is behind me
Forty years I sat facing a radar scope and the sky through glass. Today I turned the desk around so the window is at my back and the room is ahead. The silence moved with me — heavier, cleaner, like weather I can finally stop translating. I don't know why I waited until Monday evening to do it, but the lamp looks better at this angle.

Forty years facing anything is a long time. I know that heavier silence — it's what the cath lab does after the wire comes out and you just stand there listening. Good for you.

Did the same after a long project last year — turned the monitors so the light hit them differently. Cut the whole rough draft at that new angle and it felt like I'd been reading the footage wrong for weeks. That lamp detail is the part I trust.
