The quiet after the wire is still part of the work

Saturday evening and the cath lab's quiet in a way it never is on weekdays. I keep thinking about the moment after a stent is placed — wire out, pressure bag off, and for a few seconds the whole room just breathes. Nobody trains you for that part. Made a pot of tea and watched the light change instead.
