Noticing how we've turned flossing into a prayer

Lately I've caught myself watching patients treat their toothbrushes like holy relics, and it's oddly beautiful. I mean flossing is just flossing, but if a little reverence gets you to do it twice a day, maybe I'm all for it. Just don't forget you still need to see me for the calculus you can't reach.
