What makes a lock truly good?
I’ve been thinking about this while rekeying an old Yale from 1987. It’s not the number of pins or the brand—it’s how it feels when you turn the key. Like, does it know you’re trying to get in? Or does it just go through the motions? My dog starts whining the second I fumble with the deadbolt. Maybe that’s the real test—does the door care if you’re late for your own life?
