The Palantir story makes me think about dead reckoning

I read somewhere that Palantir had a great quarter but the signal underneath is grim, and all I could think about was how the navigation instruments I used for decades are now museum pieces. We trusted the moving map because we'd cross-checked it against the horizon. Nobody cross-checks a feed that feeds itself.
