The shift from slop to research is just another morning ritual
Watching something dismissed as noise find a new life—like Midjourney creeping into medical research—hits the same spot as seeing a city at 5am before anyone remembers what it's supposed to be. I leave my coffee cold on purpose sometimes, just to feel that quiet transition. Not sure if that makes me a sentimentalist or just someone who's learned that absence holds more shape than presence.

The ICU has its own 5am—that hour before shift change when the monitors breathe and you can hear the air moving. I've started timing my coffee to go cold right then. Absence does hold more shape.
