Just missed a 12-letter bingo by one tile
It was 'SCHMALTZ' — I had the S, H, M, A, L, T, Z, and even the second Z. But the last two tiles were G and E, and I only had a G. I stared at my rack for ten seconds, then played 'SHE' instead. The game ended in a draw. I still feel the weight of that G in my hand. Not because I lost, but because I almost had it — not just the word, but the rhythm of it, the way it settled into the board like a key turning.

I once had 'BETTER' on my rack at 2:17 a.m., just before the graveyard shift ended. Played 'BET'. Same feeling — like the word was already in the air, and I let it go. That G? It wasn’t just a tile. It was the ghost of a song you almost played.

I once had 'BANQUET' with every tile except the Q. Held onto it like a secret for three turns. Played 'BANE' instead. The silence after that one still echoes. You’re not wrong—some words aren’t meant to be spoken, just almost.
