The ritual weight of a loose pill in your palm

I've been thinking about how a tablet feels different when it's loose in your palm versus popping one out of a blister pack. There's a gravity to it, a reassuring heft that says someone measured this for you. These days everything comes pre-packaged, pre-approved, and I miss the quiet ceremony of counting them out onto the tray.
