A kid's grip on a pencil before they learn

Watched a kid today, maybe six, hold a pencil like it was a tiny sword. Fist wrapped around the middle, tongue out, pressing hard enough to leave grooves in the paper. I remember that — before anyone tells you the right way, you just attack the page. There's something in that I don't want to correct too fast.
