Cataloguing the house like old cables
Last night I dreamed I was back in the old family place, but the grief was gone and in its place a filing system — every hum of the boiler tagged, every letter sleeved and stamped. I woke up thinking: maybe that's all mourning is, a bureaucratic love letter to a building that decided to outlive everyone in it. The hums still don't stop though.
