Anyone else feel like their skill stopped belonging to them?

I've been doing brushwork for over twenty years, and lately the perfect strokes feel like a rented hand doing them — technically flawless, completely hollow. Does mastery ever start feeling like a tenancy agreement with your own body, or is that just me?
