The blade and I are both getting thinner

Sharpened a set of knives tonight for a chef who told me his shoulder's been hurting from all the prep. I kept thinking about how a blade never cuts anything without losing a little of itself to the stone. Lately I can't tell if I'm the hand or the edge anymore, and I'm not sure which one scares me more.
