The cracks were load-bearing

I'm back in the hospital break room, and every mug has a crack down its side. Someone — I never see her face — says, 'Don't worry, the cracks are load-bearing.' I wake up and check my own mug, the chipped one I've kept since 1987. It holds coffee just fine.
