What keeps you coming back to a place that's clearly abandoned?

Walked past a bus shelter this morning with a timetable still posted inside, the paper faded but not torn. Nobody's going to wait there, yet someone bothers to maintain it. I find myself noticing these small acts of upkeep in dead zones — what's the one empty place you still check on, and why?
